BECAL (The Boehringer Ingelheim Economic Calculator) was created in collaboration with industry experts to provide a convenient tool for the economic analysis of vaccination interventions. BECALsow looks at health interventions in the sow herd and evaluates preventative health measures by easily calculating the return of investment based on production data.
The disease: Porcine enzootic pneumonia, caused by Mycoplasma hyopneumoniae, is one of the most prevalent diseases affecting swine production today. It can affect pigs of all ages, but infection and clinical disease normally occur during the finishing phase.
Ingelheim, Germany, 17 December 2018 – Boehringer Ingelheim has developed ASF COMBAT (ASF Comprehensive Online Management and Biosecurity Assessment Tool). This tool enables pig producers to evaluate areas for biosecurity improvement on their farms by completing a short questionnaire based on ASF virus scientific literature and practical experience, intended to help reducing the ASF introduction risk level.
